Yesterday at Uralla in NSW the third Soils for Life demonstration day for 2013 was held at ‘Lana’. Major General Michael Jeffery, chair of Soils for Life gave the keynote speech. The event was attended by politicians, farmers and members of the community.
As reported on the front page of The Australian today:
Recently appointed as Australia’s first Soil Health Advocate, Major General Jeffery said Mr Wright was showing what could be done by minimising the use of chemicals and fertiliser.
“It’s a wonderful lesson for farmers of this type,” he said.
So why aren’t more following his lead?
“That’s what the Soils for Life program is about,” Major General Jeffery replied.
“Encouraging this kind of innovation and thinking.”
